A CLEAN, CLEAR POOL WITHOUT CHEMICALS!
What It Does:
The MEGADISK provides excellent, chlorine-free water for swimming pools
through filtration and ionization rather than constantly adding toxic,
corrosive chemicals to the water.
Chlorine attacks organic matter, (like your skin!), and your skin is your
body's largest organ. Chlorine irritates eyes, nose membranes, lungs and
it leaves skin and hair dry and flaky. Studies have shown that long-term
exposure to chlorine can be harmful to your health. Biguanide alternatives
to chlorine also cause allergic reactions, cloudy water, and a residue
on the pool walls.
What It Is:
The MEGADISK is a state-of-the-art form of KDF® copper-zinc media
which has been molded into a hard disk that looks a lot like a gold sponge.
KDF is excellent at removing chlorine. It acts as a descalant and algicide
in the pool and maintains a bacteriostatic environment in the filter.
KDF meets NSF Standards 42 and 61 and has been tested to remove heavy
metals and inorganics from water.
How the MEGADISK Works:
KDF uses an all-natural process that works by catalytic action and the
redox (reduction/oxidation) principal of dissimilar metals. As water passes
through the MEGADISK a chemical reaction causes zinc and copper hydroxides
to form in controlled amounts. These controlled releases of copper and
zinc oxides are carried into the filtered water where they kill bacteria
and provide hostile conditions for algae and fungus growth.
Filtration takes place as the water twists and turns through the MEGADISK's
maze of copper-zinc fibers. This tortuous movement increases contact time
with the KDF as the water is continually circulated through the openings.
Because the reticulated foam media is hard, it cannot be compacted, and
the filter is not subject to channeling or clogging. No backwashing is
necessary.
This means cleaner and more aesthetic bathing and reduced time and labor
in keeping the pool clean.
KDF also safeguards plumbing and equipment because pipes are protected
against the corrosive effects of chlorine.
Chemical costs are minimal. If excessive bather load or severe rain or
wind conditions should cloud the pool a one-time shock treatment with
potassium monopersulfate, followed by constant filtration, is sufficient
to solve the problem.
The MEGADISK also helps neutralize slightly acidic water, helping reduce
the use of pH chemicals.
